Seed Library

& Grow-a-Row

Our Seed Bank Library is available at the Velma Wortman Morristown Branch of the Shelby County Public Library! Visitors are invited to check our vault!

By repurposing the old bank vault of the Morristown Branch, library staff are thrilled to offer a seed lending library.

Patrons can "check out" seeds donated by the community, plant them, then enjoy the rewards of a giving community through beautiful blooms or a bountiful harvest!

Seeds are lent via the same system as the library's "Honor Books," in that they may be returned at any time, or if patrons are unable to return, they may be kept indefinitely with no fines or fees incurred.

With a selection of flowers, herbs, and vegetable seeds generously donated by the community, the library is excited to offer this service.

Patrons may inquire about seeds during normal library branch hours. Questions may be referred to the Morristown Branch Library staff by calling 765-818-1718, emailing morristown@sscpl.lib.in.us, or by stopping by the branch at 127 E. Main St., Morristown, IN 46161.

Do you like to garden? Are you looking for an activity to do with your family?

We are encouraging gardeners to grow an extra row of food this summer for needy families in our community.

As food prices have risen, more families need food aid. Both Shelbyville and Morristown libraries will collect produce to distribute to food pantries.

If you need seeds or have seeds to donate, you can visit the Seed Library at the Velma Wortman Morristown Branch of the Shelby County library.
