Library Closed for Christmas (@Morristown & @Shelbyville)

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

The Shelby County Public Library will be closed on Christmas, Dec. 25, at all of its locations. The library locations re-open on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at their regularly scheduled times. Velma Wortman Morristown Branch will re-open at 10 am. The Shelbyville Main Branch and Carnegie East Wing, which houses the library’s Genealogy & History Department, Computer Lab, and Friends of the Library Used Book Store, will all re-open at 9 am on Tuesday.

Closing Early (@Morristown & @Annex)

Velma Wortman Morristown Branch, Shelby County Public Library Genealogy & History Department, Computer Lab, and the Friends of the Library Used Book Store will close at 3 pm so staff members may attend the Holiday Open House honoring our retiring and new library directors at the Shelbyville Main Branch.

Each branch and department will re-open at their regularly scheduled times on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Morristown will re-open at 10 am Wednesday, while the Carnegie East Wing Annex, which houses the other departments, will re-open at 9 am Wednesday.

The Friends of the Library will meet in the Board Room, upstairs in the library. Anyone is welcome to join the Friends. We are always looking for new members! We would love to have patrons’ input about library services.

The Friends is a membership-supported, non-profit organization that raises money through donations and book sales in the Friends of the Library Used Book Store. Since our Friends group was established, we have covered costs of cultural events, library equipment, and reading incentives.
