History Presentation for April
Donna Dennison, head of the library’s Genealogy & History Department, will speak in the Community Treasures series at the Strand Theatre at 7 pm on Wednesday, May 1..
Conversations on Local History is the title of the evening, and Donna is just the person to converse with. Her knowledge of Shelbyville and Shelby County history is vast, and her ability to deliver this history in an easily digestible manner is a pleasure to hear.

Petting Zoo on the Plaza!
Barnyard Party Pals will bring their mix of domestic and exotic animals to the library’s outdoor plaza from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, May 11. Kids of all ages - even adult - can pet these animals and watch their funny expressions and noises, too!
Then, at 2 pm, Youth Department Head Dustin will present an outdoor storytime with music and fun.

Bigfoot Sighting at the Library!
On Friday, May 17 at 6 pm, join producer, Mike Familant as he shares his experiences researching and tracking down the truth behind North America's most iconic cryptid, Bigfoot. Whatever name you choose to call this large, bipedal hominid, Mike and his team has probably tried to track it down. He is a full-time lead investigator and producer of the show "In the Shadow of Big Red Eye."
He will exhibit some extraordinary evidence backed by facts, along with some unfortunate experiences which come from Bigfooting. A Q&A session will be held afte the presentation and Mike will be available for photos and autographs.

Movie Matinee
Who doesn’t love a big, strong, hairy companion? Most people might this of a dog, but not the Hendersons!
Meet in Shelbyville Main’s Open Area at 2 pm on Friday, May 17 for a rollicking movie all ages can enjoy!
Then, stick around for a special program about everyone’s favorite cryptid by Mike Familant , a researcher, Bigfoot chaser, and producer of the TV series, In the Shadow of Redeye. At 6 pm in the Shelbyville Main Open Area.
Remember, free popcorn will be provided for the movie!

Coup!
Board Game Club features Coup on Thursday, April 4 in Room D of the main building of the Shelbyville Branch.
NEW: Trading Card Groups are invited to share the spacious room and trade to their hearts content! Room D has tables and counter space to use, so bring you Magic, Pokemon and other cards.
Adults 18 and over may join Sean for fun and friends. from 6 to 8 pm on the first Thursday of each month. We hope to see you here!

April’s book selection is The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece by actor Tom Hanks.

Amanda White leads the library’s Book Group @The Bookmark, which meets the third Thursday of each month from 12 pm to 1 pm.

Monthly Euchre Fun!
Each month, join Pam for Euchre Fun on the third Wednesday of the month in Room D of the main building of the Shelbyville Branch.
From 6 pm to 8:30 pm, Euchre Fun features progressive play. Players have a new partner for each game. Drinks and light snacks will be provided. There is a limit to 24 players, so register with Pam at the circulation desk or by calling 317-398-7121.

We’re bringing back a favorite: Paint Your Pet!

All library locations will close on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Get a Free Library Card
The button below takes you to a page where you can request a free library card to the Shelby County Public Library, then stop by the Shelbyville Branch or Morristown Branch to pick up your card and key tag. You must show an approved government-issued photo ID that includes your present address.

Writers’ Group meets the last Monday of the month in the Carnegie East Wing Room A. Stretch your creativity with writing prompts, share what you have written, or not, and workshop your writing. The library now has board games and tabletop games for patrons to check out. Games are displayed in the first section of shelves next to the Adult Services circulation desk.
The first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm is the library’s Adult Board Game Night, when Kyle coordinates patrons in playing one of our board games. Then, grab a game to check out for 7 days.
