Shelby County Reads Writing and Art Contest

The Shelby County Reads Writing and Art Contest is back!

The theme for Shelby County Reads 2019 is ‘Adoption and Family.’ All ages will respond to the same question: “What makes a family?”  The responses can be an essay, a story or a work of art.

(K-2nd grades): Limit: 50 words

(3rd-5th grades): Limit: 200 words

(6th-8th grades): Limit: 300 words

(9th-12th grades): Limit: 500 words

(Adult): Limit: 500 words

 

In each of the categories, the prizes will be gift cards from Three Sisters Books & Gifts in the following amounts:  1st prize - $50, 2nd prize - $25 and 3rd prize - $15. 

Winners will be recognized at the SHELBY COUNTY READS CELEBRATION on Tues., October 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the Shelby County Public Library. Shelby County Reads is made possible (in part) thanks to a grant from the City of Shelbyville.

Submit entries by Tuesday, October 1, to the Shelby County Public Library, 57 West Broadway, Three Sisters Books & Gifts, 7 Public Square, or email to shelbycountyreads@gmail.com. Complete and attach this entry form. For email submitted entries, please include your Name, School, Address (if home-schooled or an adult entry), Grade, Teacher and Phone Number.
