INBETWEEN THE PAGES Book Discussion Group

  • Shelby County Public Library 57 West Broadway Street Shelbyville, IN, 46176 United States (map)

This book discussion group is geared toward those in 3rd-6th grades. Every third Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. we'll talk about the book we picked out and you'll get a book to take with you to read for the next month. We'll also have an activity or a craft to go along with it and snacks.

Anyone is welcome to attend and check it out! Books are chosen based on common interests for the age group and reading level. Often, book options are provided by the librarian and choices are made by votes. Sometimes, the librarian chooses the material.

Brandy Graves, Department Head of Youth Services, will lead the discussions. Questions? (317) 398-7121 ext. 230 or bgraves@sscpl.lib.in.us.

MAY BOOK:

EVERYTHING ON A WAFFLE by Polly Horvath

In the small Canadian town of Coal Harbour, in a quaint restaurant called The Girl on the Red Swing, everything comes on a waffle—lasagna, fish, you name it. Even waffles! Eleven-year-old Primrose Squarp loves this homey place, especially its owner, Kate Bowzer, who takes her under her wing, teaches her how to cook, and doesn’t patronize or chastise her, even when she puts her guinea pig too close to the oven and it catches fire . . .
