Kids, teens, and adults enroll for the library's summer reading program anytime beginning Monday, June 5 at the library. 

Throughout June and July, programs and prizes will be available for all ages. The program will end Saturday, July 22.

The name of every student in the county who completes the program will be reported to their school. Shelbyville Central School students-- if you complete the library's summer reading program, you will have met the requirements for "Dive into Reading."

Check the online calendar below or pick up a calendar at the library beginning June 5 to view the weekly programs. Special events for children and teens will include:

  • Kick-Off Parties 
     
    • BLOCK PARTY outside of the
      main library in Shelbyville on Mon., June 5
       from 3-6pm (Open House; Games, Activities, and Summer Reading Registration... stay tuned for details!)

  • Kids can also take advantage of the library's outside reading program, Reading in the Park @ Morrison Park on Tuesdays at noon from June 6 - July 18. This storytime program is in conjunction with the Shelby Central Schools Free Lunch Program (...stay tuned for details). Stop by Morrison Park anytime between 11am-12:30pm (lunch will start being served at 11:30am; storytime with special guests will be from Noon-12:30pm).

  • Magician, Daniel Lusk, will be performing his "Leggo My Magic" show on Thurs., July 6 at the Strand Theatre (Free show; Tickets will be available beginning June 5; You can call the library at 317-398-7121 ext. 230 to be put on a waiting list.)
