Community Impact Grant
The library was honored to have been selected as a finalist for the Blue River Community Impact Grant. Shelbyville Parks and Recreation was awarded the grant. We will continue to raise funds to expedite the renovation at the Carnegie East Wing. Thank you for your support!
Patrons, we appreciate your support of the Genealogy and History Department!
Terri LaFollette Stevens: I love coming to the Shelbyville Genealogy and History House! The staff is so helpful and everything is so organized. They are always interested in who you are researching and know just where to look for information.
Russell Thompson: All the individuals at the Shelbyville Genealogy and History House have gone out of their way over the years to help me locate hard to find information on my ancestors. They have done so with professionalism, and have been pleasant beyond words while helping me locate my family history. Their knowledge and interest in helping anyone is awesome, and I can think of no other Genealogy Society who deserves to win the BCRF Impact Grant.
Shirley Hoban Whitcher: Shelbyville Genealogy and History House is the best! Staff members are so helpful and knowledgeable. They are always friendly and eager to help with new ways to find answers to questions that I might have. People travel great distances, because of the amount of research material available. The staff is the icing on the cake!
Cheryl Ann Hartley: Without a place to research, materials to use, or people to help... Genealogists wouldn't be able to make their own journey finding out about the past. Its nice to have these tools!
Earlene Wheeler: We are very fortunate to have this facility. It is a great resource staffed with a knowledgeable, helpful staff.
Peggy Corley Bostic: I would like to say that I have used the Shelby County Genealogy and History Dept for many years, even before they moved to this house. The staff is friendly, helpful and informative. There are so many reference materials available, all you have to do is tell one of the ladies what you are looking for and they will lead you to the right one. It is small but well organized. I have been to many history rooms in my "genie" life, but y'all's ranks right up there at the top of my list. Keep up the good work.
Barb Smith-Kesterman: I have been patronizing the Shelbyville Genie House for many years and watching it grow in many exciting ways. It supports a multitude of history within this county and many other counties within our state. Family history grows by sharing and preserving all types of information, and that's what's happening here. The expertise and knowledge of the staff is top notch. They are extremely passionate in all aspects of genealogy.
Judy Heifner Martin: So glad to hear of the planned restoration. I have spent a few days in this library with my sister and cousin researching our family pioneers. Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable. I loved the old house but the new space looks so much more convenient and workable. Hope to visit Indiana again soon and will definitely stop in to see the new space.
Anonymous: Hello, I think that the library is a great place. I used to walk over to the library for reading time when I was in preschool at Discovery Preschool. I now attend the Middle School and am reading two years above my grade level. Thank you for putting your time into helping others into a great life of reading.
