Shelby County Public Library

The Shelby County Public Library’s annual Geek Gala and Spelling Bee will be held on Monday, September 30 at Shelbyville Middle School (Dinner 6:15pm/Competition 7pm). Breathe easier teams, we are shaking up the competition!

What’s new?
Teams of up to three spellers will be on the stage at the same time with marker boards. All teams will be given the same word and have 30 seconds to consult with their team members. Teams will then WRITE THE WORD on the board for judges to see. If your team misses
TWICE, you’re out. So... there’s no need to panic at the thought of standing at a microphone to spell, but be warned you also won’t have a list of words to study beforehand and as always, words will progressively get harder throughout the competition.
